Literacy Volunteers of Morris County is an independently funded local affiliate of ProLiteracy International.
We raise all our funding from individual donors, community organizations and foundations. We are fortunate to be a United Way organization.
We use the money we raise to:
| • Recruit and train new volunteers |
• Match tutors and students |
| • Purchase tutoring materials |
• Provide ongoing support to tutors and volunteers |
For example a gift of:
- $30 will provide a newspaper subscription for a student for one year (the newspaper is designed for new readers)
- $50 will provide a set of workbooks and audiotapes on pronunciation for one student
- $100 will provide materials and support for on English as a Second Language student for one year
- $150 will provide materials and support for one Basic student for one year
- $200 will provide training for one new tutor
- $500 will pay for publishing one issue of our tutor newsletter, READ!
